Ivana Sajko was born in 1975 in Zagreb, Croatia and is considered to be one of the most important literary voices of South East Europe. She is an author, dramaturg and Guest Lecturer at the Academy for the Performing Arts in Zagreb. Co-founder of the Theatre group BADco. and editor at FRAKCIJA – International Magazine for the Contemporary Performing Arts. For her theatrical texts, which she also directs and acts in herself, she has been awarded numerous important prizes, including the State Prize 1999, 2001 and 2003 as well as the Prize of Croatian Theatre in 2004 and 2005. Recently she has been awarded one of the most important Croatian literature prizes for her first novel, Rio Bar. Ivana Sajko lives in Zagreb and Istria.
